Required Documents for Non-Restricted Countries (who doesnt need pre-approval in advance):
    1. Visa application form duly filled and signed by the applicant.
    2. One recent passport size Photo.
    3. Original valid passport. (Minimum validity period of 6 months from the date of entry into Jordan).
    4. Copy of valid passport
  • If travelling to Jordan for Medical reasons; kindly provide a medical report from a Hospital or a Doctor in Jordan.
Jordanian Visa processing time:
  • The usual processing time for nationalities who do not require a pre-approved visa is 3 working days if its been submitted in person, and two weeks by post in. However, it can take up to 6 weeks for citizens of certain countries who do require pre-approved Visa(check list ).
Costs of processing your visa application at the consulate:

Here is below all fees for nationalities who doesn’t need any approval in advance:

  • Single Entry, valid for two months from the date of issue to enter Jordan £ 67.50
  • Double Entry, valid for 3 months from the date of issue to enter Jordan £ 97.50
  • Multiple entries, Valid for 6 months from the date of issue to enter Jordan £ 187.50
  • Double and Multiple entries Visas can only be issued at the consulate.
  • If you wish to combine travel to Jordan with a visit to neighboring countries, we recommend that you get a multiple entry visa before you travel.

Extending your stay in Jordan:

You can extend the duration of your stay after you arrive in Jordan up to a maximum period of 6 months by registering with a police station. If you overstay your duration of stay you will be subject to a fine. (for duration of stay please check instructions below)

Travelling to Jordan with Medications:

You should have a medical report and valid prescription to bring medication to Jordan. The medication should be in its original container with the doctor’s instructions printed on the package. If you don’t have the original container,you have to bring a letter from your doctor explaining your condition and why you need this medication. Travel with no more than you need for your personal use during your stay.

Diplomatic, Service and Official Passports:

 Please provide us with the following:

  1. A valid passport.
  2. Application form duly filled and signed by the applicant.
  3. A recent passport size photo of the applicant.
  4. A note verbal from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State that has issued the passport or the diplomatic mission of the sending State. This note verbal must mandatorily mention:


  • The identity of the passport holder (surname, given name(s), date of birth).
  • Their designation (or the relationship justifying the possession of a diplomatic/ official passport).
  • Type and number of the travel document.
  • The purpose and dates of stay in the Jordan.

Syrian & Palestinian passports:
  1. Palestinian Passport Holders with Palestinian ID (who require a Double Entry visa) or in doubt of their visa requirement situation has to contact the consulate directly.
  1. Holders of Syrian passports have to apply Visa Application for prior authorization to enter Jordan, please apply at least 4 weeks before travel. As for Syrians going into Jordan from anywhere else please contact the Ministry of Interior in Jordan directly.

يمكن للأخوة حاملي جواز السفر العراقي او اليمني او الليبي الحصول على تأشيرة دخول لاراضي المملكة الاردنية الهاشمية مباشرة من المعابر الحدودية او المطارات الاردنية، او من خلال القسم القنصلي في السفارة شريطة ابراز بطاقة إقامة في المملكة المتحدة على ان تكون صالحة لمدة لا تقل عن ستة اشهر من تاريخ الدخول الى الأردن (لا تقبل التأشيرات السياحية)، وفي حال عدم امتلاك بطاقة إقامة (اوفي حال امتلاك اقامة صالحة لفترة تقل عن ست شهور ولو بيوم واحد) يجب تقديم طلب التأشيرة الكتروني للحصول على تأشيرة دخول للاراضي الاردنية قبل شهر واحد على الاقل من تاريخ السفر ,علما بأن جوازات السفر الليبية واليمنية تمنح تأشيرة دخول مجانية

Please read these instructions carefully.
  • Children (regardless of age) require their own separate visa, and fees are the same as adults.
  • There is no appointment booking system for Visa.
  • It is for the Jordanian authorities to determine the right of entry into the country.
  • Please submit your visa application at least three weeks before the intended travel date.
  • The Consulate cannot be held responsible for applications or documents lost in transit.
  • Groups of five people or more are exempted from any entry visa fees if:
    • Their stay in Jordan is for more than three days, and their visit to Jordan had been arranged by a certified and an accredited Jordanian tour operator, please check at (
  • Visas issued by consulates or at the border are for the purpose of entering Jordan. The duration of stay is determined by the immigration officer upon arrival (usually 30 days). If you wish to stay beyond the granted duration period, you need to contact your local police or the Ministry of Interior.
  • Visas are valid from the date of issue.
  • Visa fees are non-refundable.
  • Exit service fee applies only for land and sea border points. 10.00 JD per passenger and 5.00 JD per vehicle.

Coming to Jordan by road from Syria, you can cross via Jaber or Ramtha.

Jaber is 80km away from Amman and is most commonly used by visitors, while Ramtha is 90km away and is mainly for cargo.


Visitors can travel to Jordan by road from Iraq through Al-Karamah Border Crossing, which is 331 km away from Amman and is open 8am to 17 hrs throughout the year.

Saudi Arabia:

There are three border crossings with Saudi Arabia:

Umari Border Crossing: 155km away from Amman and open 24/7 throughout the year.

Mudawara Border Crossing: 322km away from Amman and open 24/7 throughout the year.

Durra Border Crossing: It is to the south, 349km away from Amman and open 24/7 throughout the year.


West Bank:

  • The King Hussein Bridge/ Allenby, 57km away from Amman, is located in the southern Jordan Valley and is open Sun–Thurs 09:00 hrs – 22:30 hrs for arrivals and 7:00 to 21:00 for departures, and Fri-Sat 07:00hrs – 11:00hrs.PLEASE NOTE:Prior visas must be arranged and cannot be obtained at the border. Private cars and tour buses cannot cross – travelers must change vehicles upon crossing or alternatively use the other two border crossings.


  • Sheikh Hussein crossing /North Border, is 90km away from Amman. It is located in the north, close to Lake Tiberius (Sea of Galilee), its open Sunday – Thursday: 08:30hrs – 20:30hrs and Friday – Saturday: 09:00hrs – 18:00hrs.At this crossing, visas for most nationalities can be obtained at the border; prior permits are not needed except for restricted nationalities
  • Wadi Araba Crossing/South Border, located in the south, 324km away from Amman, connecting the two Red Sea resorts of Eilat and Aqaba. Its open Sun–Thurs 06:30hrs – 20:00hrs and Fri – Sat 0800hrs – 20:00hrs.Visas at Wadi Araba Crossing/South Border can be obtained at this point ; prior permits are not needed except for restricted nationalities.Wadi Araba Crossing Border closes on Islamic New Year day and Yom Kippur.PLEASE NOTE:

Q: What types of visas are available for people to come to Jordan?

A: We only issue visit Visa at the Consulate.

Q: Does the consulate have anything to do with the actual visa decision?

A: No. None of the staff in the consulate have any authority or discretionary ability with regards to the visa decision. Our job is purely administrative in nature and we cannot influence or expedite any decision.

Q: Can I confirm all my travel bookings before getting the visa?

A: It is recommended that no bookings or travel arrangements should be confirmed until the visa has been issued. We are not responsible for any loss of bookings made in anticipation of obtaining a Visa.

Q: Can I apply to renew my residence permit at the consulate?

A: You can not apply for or renew Jordanian residence permit via the consulate.

Q: My visa application has been refused. Why can’t I get my money back?

A: The fees that you pay are for the processing of your application. This fee is non-refundable regardless of whether you are granted a visa or not.

Q: After I have my visa, will I be able to enter Jordan?

A: A visa does not guarantee entry into Jordan. A visa allows a foreign citizen to travel to Jordan. Border authorities are authorized grant or deny entry to Jordan.

Q: How can I pay the visa application fees?

A: Visa fees are only paid by credit/Debit card in Sterling Pounds.

Q: Do I qualify for a free (gratis) visa fee?

A: Holders of Jordan pass or citizens of the following countries can get their visa free of charge (Gratis):
